LOL - I used to count like you. Words like father or Jehovah are often used as an expletive in prayer.

How many times jehovah is said in a prayer
by Normalfulla inso there was this particular elder in my hall who when giving a prayer would say "jehovah" waaaay to much it was ridiculous, we ended up having a count every time he gave prayer, most of the time it was 15-18 but once he topped 20, if u say it out loud 20 times you'll see how weird it is, like when do you ever in a conversation say someone's name that many times in 2 or so minutes,!

Fossilized foot prints, how do they explain it away?
by Crazyguy inso there have been many sets of fossilized human footprints found in africa, italy, europe, britain and new mexico.
these foot prints are thought to be anywhere from 20,000 to 2 million years old.
so what do christians and jws do to try to explain these away.

Ok, so the creative day span is no issue anymore. But they still cling to a literal interpertation of the creation of Adam and so there will always be the problem that humans are found that are older than those in the biblical account. Even as a teenager I thought this was a problem, only reasoning it away by doubting the ability of scientists to set the correct dates.

GB "... it can make mistakes when explaining the Bible ..." Simplified version WT Feb 2017
by freddo instudy article: who is leading god's people today?
start of paragraph 12.. standard version: "the governing body is neither inspired nor infallible.
therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction.".

The dutch translation also makes it clear: The GB does not receive godly revelations and is not infallible.
Het Besturende Lichaam krijgt geen goddelijke openbaringen en is ook niet onfeilbaar.

Circuit Overseers are putting their resume on LinkedIn? This is new?!
by dropoffyourkeylee ini am a bit surprised to see what appears to be current and in-good-standing circuit overseers putting their resumes on linkedin.
www.linkedin.com/title/circuit-overseer.
do you know any of these, and are they legit?.

Some may be proud of a title, but many are on LinkedIn because they may need to get a real job in the future. An assignment is not future-proof anymore.
Where I live, in the Netherlands, a religious activity on your CV is not a recommendation. That is why many try to diffuse what their background is by using WTBTS, instead of the name Jehovah's Witnesses. The problem is that you have to explain a gap in your CV. Even Ex-JW's have this problem when they have been in Special Fulltime service.

by konceptual99 inthis is absolutely feckin' priceless.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/videos/viewpoints-origin-of-life/petr-muzny-law-professor/.
in yet another appeal to authority, jw.org has trotted out a professional to vouch for creation.
this guy is a law professor.

This guy did the Bayatyan vs Armenia case on conscentious objection for the ECHR as a lawyer.
He did actually a good job, I was impressed by his plea. Hope he wakes up one day using logic.

This is what the local elders make of it. In my congregation a longtime respected elder was just removed from his privileges having his disfellowshipped son visiting him while he was recovering from a serious illness.

I found a list my Wife is makingof subjects i have told her about the BORG.
by goingthruthemotions inso me and my wife have not been on speaking terms for about 5 weeks, and when we do .
talkā¦it is arguing about the jw cult and more of a barrage from me telling here all the stuff i have learned.
i know i shouldn't do this....but, i get so freaking p.o ed aobut what this cult has done to my family.

I would be afraid of such a list too. This doesn't seem to be the list of someone who intends to do research for herself.
I am also in a situation where I brought up some troubling subjects to my wife and she seems to be writing her thoughs on paper too. However see writes at least the Bible verses down that help her to cope with my "serious doubts".

Impact of NWT
by menrov inhi all, just recently i was thinking about the period of my study and eventual baptism as jw.
it took many years, i guess in all about 10 years.
various times i stopped the study but after a while it started again.

Reading the Arabic Bible, which was more literal translated than the NWT, opened up my eyes for quite a number of subjects. However, the Bible has so many horrible things in it, especially in the Mosaic law, that you cannot conceal those by translating it in a different way. So it was reading the Bible that helped me see ttatt.

JW refugees and politics
by Anders Andersen inin the netherlands, an action going on to get two brothers from sierra leone a residence permit.. the men fled the horrible civil war in their country when 14 and 11 years old.
without parents.. they have now lived in the netherlands more than half of their lives.
they are well educated, have nothing in sierra leone and everything in the netherlands.

I happen to know them, however they are actually from Nigeria, so Sierra Leone is a foreign country for them, like they say in the article.

Do you recognize?
by Gorbatchov ingorby has had a personal paradigm shift lately.. from one point to an other i "feel" and "think" different about the jw subject.. - no more interest in doctrine.
- no more interest in things that happen 100 years ago into an religion.. - no more taking statements too serious.
it doesn't matter me at all what a generation doctrine change is all about, it doesn't matter me at all that brother elder said "blablabla boe!".

Since I have to stay in, because of my relatives, I do still care about it. I am looking for opportunities to wake them up. So I try to keep up with the developments and give them tidy bits of information.
